I’ve come to the conclusion that writing the first post of a new blog is a million times harder than writing the first chapter of any book I’ve ever started to write. I’ve been sitting here for hours. Type, then delete. Type again. Delete. It’s getting close to bedtime so this time I will be forced not to delete.
So why has this first post been so hard? I don’t know. Writing usually comes very easily for me. After all, I am a writer. That’s what I do. I suppose the difference between writing a blog and a book is simply that when I’m writing a book I know where I’m heading. I’ve already figured out the ending. Don’t get me wrong, the ending will quite likely change by the time I get there, but at least in that moment when I start to write I know where I’m going.
Blogging, on the other hand, is completely new to me. It’s undefined. I have no plot, just random thoughts. There are no characters to develop because I am the character. The blog is my journey and I don’t know how it’s going to end.
There, I guess I just answered my own question.
Welcome to my blog.
